Jpilot has been my primary address, calendar apt since about 2000.
I have removed myself as far as possible from Google by buying a
Fairphone running e/OS this uses nextcloud to sync calendar and
address book.
Is it possible to sync jpilot to nextcloud.
Thanks
Hello Mr. Bissonnette,
I do not fully understand the requirement: the J-Pilot files, s. /1/, can
be sync'ed with "Nextcloud Files", s. /2/, similar to Google Drive.
Or do you mean to directly sync from your handheld a la HotSync?
Thanks,
Elmar Klausmeier.

sync from jpilot of the address book and calendar to Nextcloud is all I
need. Syncing my Palm TX is no problem.
Murena the developer of a Google free Android OS offers a free 1GB
storage via Nextcloud. I would like that the address book and calendar
from jpilot synced with my "smartphone" via Nextcloud.
What would be the simplest way?

I guess, that the Murena offer would expect your data in Android format.
So you should export your Palm data with help of JPilot to CSV or vCard Format, and than import this data to your Android Phone.
Anyway you probably may face problems (missing some data), if you used the special fields in your Palm. So reckon with to have to edit the exported CSV or vCard data manually before importing to Android.

To view and edit a CSV format file I suggest to use LibreOffice Calc.

Exporting from jpilot to the android device is no problem, been doing
that for ages. The updating a device or numerous devices automatically
(Syncing) is the question. This can not be done by exporting data from
one device and importing it into another.
If you update a contact, export that updated contact to another
address book that info is not updated, a second
entry is made with the imported data.

Not sure about that. Thunderbird syncs with Nextcloud and that syncs
with my cellphone without manually exporting and importing

I got sync to work with Thunderbird by installing "TbSync" and "Provider
for CalDAV & CardDAV".
I think to get jpilot to sync those two or similar extensions would
have to be written for jpilot. Doing anything like that is way above my
skill set.

Looks like the way to have Jpilot sync with Nextcloud or maybe any cloud
service is if Jpilot has the ability to use
CalDAV or CardDAV for the transfer.

How can they be synced?
