Yes, I use a Palm TX also.
But I recall having to use AdressDB because it was imported from my old Palm IIIxe.

I have now done a hard-reset on the TX because it went into continuous reset loop.
I have been able to rstore it but instead of sync'ing, it goes into a reset loop again.

I will see what surgery I can do or maybe better just restore the AdressDB file from my
BackInTime backups and be done with it.

What worries me is not knowing what the motive for this happening is.

TIA,

I had not seen that restriction. I've used jpilot for a couple of decades
with different PDA handhelds. With the TX I changed the settings to use
Calendar, Contacts, and Memos. It Just Works.

I have now done a hard-reset on the TX because it went into continuous
reset loop. I have been able to rstore it but instead of sync'ing, it goes
into a reset loop again.

I think I had that issue, too, when I initially restored the handheld. It
cleared up after a second hard reset ... if I remember correctly.

Computers happen. Many times we have no idea why.

Stay well,

Rich

This is from a part of the thread when I exported my data from the Palm IIIxe to the TX in
January this year:

newer databases.  You only have the older ones.  Its been a long time

Solved it first restoring a part and thern sync'ing the rest.
Go figure ...

Q:
I need to set the Business flag to roughly 50 records which are Unfiled.
They were originally filed but moved to the TX as Unfiled.
Tricky ...

Doing it one-by-one works but it gets tiresome ...
Is there a way to do that in bulk?
ie: select the Unfiled ones and put them in the Business lot?

TIA,

Right.  Just to be clear, you can import an AddressDB and then you will
also have a ContactsDB-PAdd database on the Palm with the same info
(although a superset).

TIA,

There is no easy way that I know of.  I could write something in C and
there are Perl and python libraries out there also.  We'd have way more
time in the code than doing it by hand.

You could try exporting the unfiled records, changing the category and
then importing.

Doesn't the handheld switch when you set jpilot to use Palm0S > 5? I paid no
attention when I lost my Treo 700p and restored jpilot to the TX.

It doesn't switch.  The old databases are "emulated" and still
accessible.  You can think of it as a database view.  The data is stored
in the new database and also accessible via the old database if accessed
that way.  I have no inside knowledge of the PalmOS code and how it in
implemented.  This is how it appears to be from outside the black box.

Judd,

Thanks for clarifying! That's why the old databases remain although the
actual data are in the new versions.

Stay well,

Rich
