Hello,

I have an old Lenovo ideapad 320 laptop running Linux Mint 22.1, Xfce
edition.  I have installed J-Pilot 2.0.2 first by using the.deb files, then
by running the INSTALL.sh  script and installing over my first attempt.

J-Pilot opens just fine.  The issue is that I cannot get it to HotSync with
my Tungsten E2. I click on the hotsync icon in J-Pilot, then tap on
the hotsync icon on my device, I get a message on the PDA "Connecting with
the desktop using Cradle/Cable" then nothing happens.  No data is
transferred. All help is appreciated.

More details of my system than you will ever need follow:

Regards,
John

Try opening Palm Pilot on Command Line: sudo jpilot
Then your password
Then open "File" and Press "Install User"
After you have installed your user name, Sync handheld.
It should work

You should make sure that you are in the dialout group. If you needed to add yourself then you need to log out and back in. Then try it.

Regards,

John

You should make sure that you are in the dialout group. If you needed to add yourself then you need to log out and back in. Then try it. Hi Paul,

I do not understand, why running JPilot as root should be good for. I more think, it could be dangerous.

For synching it's enough to add group dialout to the normal user.

After you have installed your user name, Sync handheld.
It should work
