From my perspective there is nothing wrong with Google groups. They host a
variety of notable groups like Linux.Debian.Security /1/, Sundials /2/,
Android-Platform /3/, Android-Building /4/, etc.

Another route: Use a Facebook group. Whenever somebody posts something
there, you can get notified via e-mail.

On a similar vein: I or anyone else can host a phpBB forum /5/. Whenever a
new entry is there, you can get notification via e-mail. Though setting up
e-mail is always a hassle because outgoing e-mail is not always accepted by
all mail providers.

Both Facebook and phpBB have the "problem" that they must be constantly
monitored to keep them from becoming infested from unwanted advertisements.

Btw., I think, using such a historic smart phone is radical. And too it has political impact, because it prevents from surveillance and tracking. :-)

I think you are correct.  We could redesign the website to look
political and radical.  Maybe some AI generated photos of babies in a
sweatshop assembling iPhones and blood dripping down a Pixel phone held
by a faceless man in a business suit that is on fire (it doesn't need to
make sense).  We'd scare away the people we don't want in our little
radical group ;-)

That was my Halloween humor.

our white lists so you can get thru no matter what?????

or are they blocking your sending it out??

have you asked the FSF if they know how to get it to work??

Does anyone have recommendations on where to host an email list?

I only saw one mailman service on there and I couldn't remember enough
French to read it much.It probably wouldn't be worth the trouble of
having a language barrier to save a few bucks.  Thanks for the link,
though.  I was thinking about https://www.mailmanhost.com/ and they did
not answer my question I asked (if I could import the old list
archives).  I don't even see a place to sign up.
