I think the problem I've had is because I restored the Tungsten T|X
with the 'default' settings.
My ignorance of the difference between database formats and files
certainly did not help but the advice obtained here did. 8^D.
ie:
OS < 5.0 uses the older versions: Addressbook | Datebook | Memo32
OS > 5.0 uses the newer versions: Contacts | Calendar | Memos
I restored and accepted the default settings which for J-Pilot is the
whole list ...
AddressDB.pdb
CalendarDB-PDat.pdb
ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb
Datebook.pdb
ExpenseDB.pdb
Keys-Gtkr.pdb
MananaDB.pdb <- this one I knew about because I don't use it.
Memo32DB.pdb
MemoDB.pdb
MemosDB.PMem.pdb
Saved Preferences.prc
TasksDB-PTod.pdb
ToDoDB.pdb
... albeit independently of what has been selected in J-Pilot
Preferences.
ie:
Preferences | Address
Preference | Datebook
Preferences | Memo
Once I got that straight, things are working again.
Just in case, should I delete/rename the database files that are not
being used? I have them all in my .jpilot folder but they are empty templates.
Now there seems to be something going on with the battery apparently draining
but I'm looking at it.
Suggestion:
If at all possible, it would be a good thing that when selecting the
DB format to use at sync time, the default settings for 'Restore
Handheld' went along with the chosen option.
Thanks for your input.
Stay safe, it's still out there.

Nah. Leave them there because 1) they take minimal room and b) they'll be
recreated anyway.

I learned that charging using the USB connection was slow and unreliable. I
bought a A/C wall wart and cable and use that instead. Works much better.
Carpe weekend,

Right, good to know.

Quite so.
The USB connection only does a trickle charge.
By monday I'll know if there's something else afoot.
Thanks for your input.
Have a good week-end.
